When Client Relationships Don’t End Amicably

It is never pleasant when a client relationship ends on less than amicable terms. This is especially true when the relationship’s demise leads to litigation. A contract dispute that was recently litigated in bankruptcy court [In re Kent, 615 B.R. 171 (Bankr. W.D. Pa. 2020)] highlights certain issues that CPAs should be aware of. These issues may be particularly relevant in the current uncertain economic climate, when there is a heightened risk that businesses will find themselves unable to pay their bills.
