Jas Singh graduated magna cum laude from Columbia University in May, 2020. Jas majored in English Literature, with a focus on South Asian colonial and postcolonial literature. While at Columbia, Jas was an Oxbridge Scholar and spent a year studying English at Clare College in the University of Cambridge. She was a recipient of the Richmond B. Williams Traveling fellowship in 2019, which funded her research on the transmission of culture between India and Europe in Indian modernist art and literature. This research became the foundation for Jas’ senior thesis, which analyzed the presentation of colonial authority in Mulk Raj Anand’s fiction.

Jas has tutored nontraditional students, including veterans and formerly incarcerated people, in reading and essay writing at the Academic Resource Center at Columbia’s School of General Studies. She has interned at social impact startups and nonprofits, such as Beam Impact and Venture for America. At Columbia, Jas hosted events to address injustices facing historically marginalized communities with Columbia University Sewa, a community service organization that is based upon the Sikh value of selfless service.

Jas grew up in Dubai and Singapore. In her free time, she enjoys theater, visiting art galleries and museums, and discovering the best coffee spots. Jas joined Kostelanetz & Fink, LLP in 2020.
