K&F Partner Caroline Ciraolo Recognized As Top Rated Tax Attorney In Maryland And D.C.

Baltimore (December 6, 2019) – Kostelanetz & Fink LLP is pleased to announce that partner Caroline D. Ciraolo has been selected for inclusion on the 2020 Maryland Super Lawyers list as a “Top Rated Tax Attorney in Baltimore, MD.” Ciraolo was previously included on the Maryland Super Lawyers list from 2009 to 2015 (Top Ten 2013-2015; Top 25 Women since 2009) prior to serving as the Acting Assistant Attorney General of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Tax Division from 2015 to 2017.

Ciraolo is also ranked in Chambers and Partners’ 2019 USA Guide in Band 2 for Tax: Fraud Nationwide and Band 3 for Tax in Washington, D.C., was selected in 2019 as a “Top Rated Tax Attorney in Washington, D.C.” by Super Lawyers, and has been recognized by the Washingtonian as one of the D.C.-area’s top tax lawyers in in the magazine’s directory of “Washington’s top legal talent.”

Ciraolo co-founded Kostelanetz & Fink’s Washington, D.C. office in 2017 and maintains an office in Baltimore to better serve Maryland-based clients. Ciraolo’s practice focuses on complex and sophisticated civil tax controversies, including representation in sensitive audits, administrative appeals, and litigation in federal and state courts and tax tribunals, providing related tax advice, including advice on uncertain tax positions, financial reporting, claims for refund, amended returns, voluntary disclosures, and internal investigations, and representing individuals and institutions in criminal tax investigations and prosecutions.

In 2019, a total of 10 Kostelanetz & Fink partners and three other attorneys at the firm were included in the annual Super Lawyers lists for either New York or Washington, D.C. Super Lawyers rates lawyers based on peer nominations and evaluations, which are then combined with independent research, according to its website. Each candidate is evaluated on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement, and only 5 percent of applicant attorneys in each state are chosen, according to Super Lawyers.
