On September 6, 2022, Caroline D. Ciraolo moderates a panel entitled “Getting your house in order – conducting internal investigation into alleged tax offenses” at the 39th Cambridge International Symposium On Economic Crime at Jesus College, University of Cambridge, England.

Panel Description: With the increasing threat of Government enforcement, data leaks, and whistleblower complaints, companies need an established and effective protocol for investigating alleged violations of local or international laws. Particularly when dealing with potential tax violations, the failure to conduct a thorough and careful internal investigation can result in substantial monetary and other penalties and personal exposure for individuals involved. Panelists from England, France, and the United States will share their experience leading and managing internal investigations involving potential tax violations, review some of the difficult issues presented in dealing with officers, employees, and external witnesses, and best practices.
